Ingersoll-Rand Co. reported that fourth-quarter and full year-earnings rose 43% and 35%, respectively. Thomas A. Holmes, chairman and chief executive of the Woodcliff, N.J.-based machinery-manufacturing company, said the company’s performance was achieved despite continued adverse conditions in the oil, gas and coal mining industries and the high costs associated with the introduction and marketing of the company’s small compressor lines.
