Bell : Shopping Center Plan OKd
The City Council last week approved a development plan to clear the way for a proposed shopping center at Atlantic and Clarkson avenues by Rodeo-West Co., a Los Angeles-based firm.
The proposed center--within a designated Redevelopment Project Area undergoing review and adoption proceedings--was exempted from a moratorium placed on project area sites in August.
A specific plan, similar to a general plan but which focuses on a particular parcel or parcels of land, had to be approved by the council to permit the development to proceed.
The shopping center, which will include a large drugstore and shoe store chain, will be on a vacant 1.65-acre site that was previously the Atlantic Lumber Yard.
