Artesia : Manager’s Pact Extended

Share

The City Council has unanimously extended interim City Manager Harold Campbell’s contract until April 30. Campbell was hired in July, 1984, to guide the small city of 14,500 until a permanent successor could be found.

Despite having helped turn around the once financially troubled city, Campbell, 62, does not want the Artesia job permanently. The council decided to extend his contract until after the April council elections. Two of the five council members, Jim Van Horn and Dennis Fellows, face reelection on April 8.

The front-runner for Campbell’s post is Eugene C. Romig, assistant city manager and personnel director, according to Mayor Bob Jamison.
