The first Westside Los Angeles major-thoroughfare sobriety checkpoint will be conducted in the Venice-Marina del Rey area beginning late this afternoon and continuing through early Saturday, police said. Officer Jack Velasco of the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Area said specifics will be released today about the checks for possible drunk drivers.
