A million thanks for Morrison’s interview with Stan Chambers, which brought back some of my most pleasant memories of early television, of Chambers flitting from Hollywood and Vine to the “City at Night” show. (He won’t remember an interview at the airport during which he asked a gentleman just arrived from back East, “And why did you come to L.A.?” The fellow arched an eyebrow and replied, “Because I happen to live here.”) I also remember spending pleasant hours vicariously at the beach every Sunday afternoon watching “Fun on the Beach,” in which he and Dorothy Gardner organized contests and sports for the beach people and for those of us at home. Who needed sitcom junk when there was such fine human-interest material to see? Let’s have more Stan Chambers people.
