Nevada Reno Leads USIU Golf Meet; San Diego State Is in Tie for Third
Robert Icban fired a 4-under-par 104 Monday and teammate Jeff Anderson carded an even-par 108 to help Nevada Reno take the 27-hole lead in the U.S. International University Invitational golf tournament at the San Luis Rey Down Country Club.
The final 27 holes will be played today.
Nevada Reno, with a team total of 548, leads second-place Cal State Long Beach by eight strokes going into today’s final. San Diego State is tied for third, 18 shots back. USIU (579) is ninth, UC San Diego (593) is 12th, and Point Loma Nazarene College (636) is last in the 14-team field.
Icban is atop the individual leaderboard by two strokes over San Diego State’s Mike Foley. Pat Weishan of UCSD is in fourth place, seven shots behind the leader.
