Hidden Hills Lacks Contest, May Scrap Vote
The April 8 Hidden Hills City Council election may be canceled, officials said Tuesday.
Only three people met Tuesday’s deadline to file for three council seats to be filled in the April voting. That means that current City Council members may decide to appoint the three candidates and skip the election, City Clerk Jane La Croix said.
Before the election is scrapped, however, residents of the 1.4-square-mile city west of Woodland Hills will have another 10 days to decide whether they want to run, La Croix said.
If others among Hidden Hills’ 1,860 residents enter the race, the election will go on as scheduled, she said. If not, the council will decide Feb. 18 whether to appoint the three candidates.
Candidates who have filed are incumbents Alana S. Knaster, a labor mediator who now is mayor; Chris K. Van Peski, an electrical engineer, and Warren McCamet, a lawyer.
La Croix said the city would save about $1,500 by not having an election.
