‘Father of 747’ on Shuttle Panel

WASHINGTON —
President Reagan today named Boeing executive Joseph Sutter as the 13th member of the commission appointed to investigate the space shuttle Challenger disaster.
Sutter, executive vice president of the Boeing Commercial Airline Co., is known as “the father of the 747.” Reagan last year awarded him the Medal of Technology for his role in developing three generations of airline jet aircraft.
