Alberto Aleman, head of the World Boxing Assn.’s Championship Committee, said his committee will vote Monday in Atlanta on whether to strip Tim Witherspoon of his heavyweight title after receiving the results of a Georgia commission hearing.
Witherspoon’s post-fight urine test showed traces of marijuana in his system when he won the crown last month.
“I smoked marijuana once at a party in Philadelphia around Thanksgiving,” said Witherspoon, who won a 15-round decision over champion Tony Tubbs Jan. 17 at Atlanta. “That was way before the fight, way before training.
