All-Southern Section pick Nigel Clay of Fontana, one of the top offensive line prospects in the country, Thursday night picked Oklahoma over USC and gave a verbal commitment to play for the Sooners.
Lineman Mark Vander Poel of Chino, who has been playing organized football for only two years, was also considering the Trojans, but decided to attend Colorado. Defensive back Paul Behrman from Norman, Okla., gave them another near miss earlier in the week when he picked Texas.
Colorado will also get Sherman Oaks Notre Dame tight end John Perak, while Visalia lineman Mike Kohlmoos gave a commitment to Cal, lineman Ben Runnels of Fullerton said he will go with Cal and running back Jason Carr and safety Chris Moton, both from Inglewood Morningside, picked Washington State.
Alan Zendejas, another in a long line of placekicking brothers from Chino, has committed to Arizona State.
