Man Dies in Fight on Reservation
A fight inside a house on the Campo Indian Reservation left one man dead late Friday, and the district attorney’s office is reviewing the incident to determine whether homicide charges should be filed.
Sheriff’s deputies responding to a report of a fight at a Church Road residence on the Indian reservation found George Largo, 18, dead in the living room. Homicide detectives called to the scene reported that Largo had gone to the house and apparently provoked a fight with Matthew Mason, 28, his brother-in-law, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
During the fight, Mason attempted to restrain Largo by the neck, and Largo collapsed and died, authorities said. Mason was taken into custody at the scene but was released pending the district attorney’s review.
The exact cause of death won’t be known until after an autopsy, the spokesman said.
