President and Mrs. Reagan today gave their son Ron a favorable review for his White House spoofs on “Saturday Night Live,” saying they were “delightfully surprised to see what a good performer he is.”

The President’s younger son was the host Saturday night on the late-night NBC comedy show in which he did a takeoff from a scene in the movie “Risky Business,” dashing through the White House in his underwear.

Assistant White House press secretary Mark Weinberg quoted the Reagans as saying, “We had never seen the program before. We always knew Ron was a good writer, and we were delightfully surprised to see what a good performer he is.

“He was funny. He was at ease. We enjoyed it.”

The show opened with Ron’s parents at Camp David talking on the telephone to their son, telling him he was in charge of the White House while they were away.

He tells them not to worry, hangs up the phone and charges down the stairs in Jockey shorts and shirt dancing wildly to a rock song.
