ATV Reports Profits of $469,000 for 3rd Quarter

Continuing its stunning rebound, ATV Systems Inc. of Santa Ana Monday reported unaudited third-quarter profits of $469,000, its seventh consecutive quarterly profit since teetering on the brink of bankruptcy in 1984.

Profits the year before were $460,000.

For the period ended Dec. 31, the maker of computer systems for restaurants had sales of $3.8 million, down 49% from the $7.5 million of the prior year when the company had several more operations.

Profits for the first nine months of the fiscal year were $997,000, up 14% from the $877,000 of the prior year. Sales were $10.9 million, off 59% from the $26.4 million a year before.

Since June, 1984, the company had trimmed its workforce and sold several money-losing subsidiaries and other operations that did not directly tie into its focus on restaurant computer systems. Company officials have credited that “massive adjustment in costs and staffing” for saving ATV.
