U.S. Senate candidate Bob Naylor called on rival contenders Bobbi Fiedler and Ed Davis to drop out of the Republican primary election race for the good of the GOP. “We can compare their fight with the scenario of two scorpions in a glass bottle, fighting it out with the entire state of California peering in,” Naylor told a Capitol news conference. “I am afraid the stain on this race is indelible and the damage done by this controversy grows daily,” he said. Naylor, a Menlo Park assemblyman, said he felt he had benefitted politically from uncertainty among Republicans about the indictment of Fiedler, a Northridge congresswoman, for allegedly trying to entice a debt-ridden Davis, state senator from Valencia, out of the race with campaign contributions. Spokesmen for Davis and Fiedler said each was in the race to stay.
