Mesa offered to buy K N Energy for $22 a share.

T. Boone Pickens Jr., general partner of Mesa Limited Partnership, said the firm has submitted a proposal to K N Energy’s board of directors for a newly-formed corporation to be owned by the partners of Mesa. The proposal was first communicated to the chief executive of K N Energy by telephone on Jan. 22, 1986, and was reaffirmed by a letter delivered to the firm’s board of directors. Mesa said it already owns about 4.7% of K N’s 8.9 million shares outstanding.
