State officials in Elmont, N.Y., have been unable to determine the cause of the fire that killed 45 horses at a Belmont Park barn last month.
“The case remains open because the evidence was destroyed in the fire,” Lt. Walter Heesch of the state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation said. “It’s an undetermined fire and we don’t have any cause.”
