Share

Two whale watch stations will be open to the public on weekends during February and March.

A spotting scope and binoculars will be available and a National Park Service ranger will answer questions on Saturdays at Point Dume State Reserve and on Sundays at Lifeguard Tower 3 at Leo Carrillo State Beach. Station hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

At least five Pacific gray whales have been spotted this year.

The Point Dume reserve is reached by following Westward Beach Road from Pacific Coast Highway to the end and walking up the trail. Leo Carrillo beach is south of the Ventura County line on Pacific Coast Highway.
