Control Data reported a loss of $297.9 million in the fourth quarter of 1985 and a $567.5-million loss for the full year ended Dec. 31. In 1984, earnings were $4.5 million in the fourth quarter and $5.1 million for the full year. In the computer business, fourth-quarter losses in 1985 were $267.5 million on revenue of $981 million, and losses for the year totaled $562.7 million on revenue of $3.7 billion. Although losses from operations were incurred in both periods, more than half of the computer business losses in 1985 resulted from special pretax charges of $121.0 million and $274.8 million in the fourth quarter and year, respectively.
