Chad reported that it pushed Libyan-backed rebels out of Koro Toro, a town 370 miles north of N’Djamena, the capital, but two other towns came under attack during the fourth day of a rebel offensive. France, calling the fighting “very serious,” sent Defense Minister Paul Quiles to its former colony and said it will step up arms shipments. Chadian officials charged that Libyan troops are fighting alongside the rebels.
