UCLA Plans Baroque Music Festival

The UCLA Department of Music will present the first E. Nakamichi Baroque Music Festival on the Westwood campus from June 23 to 29.

The festival will include six concerts, five recitals, panel discussions, workshops and presentations of papers and exhibitions.

Funded by a $400,000 grant from the E. Nakamichi Foundation, the festival will be patterned after the Boston Early Music Festival.

Conductor Christopher Hogwood will direct two programs of 18th-Century Venetian music on June 24 and 25 at Royce Hall.

James Richman will lead the Concert Royal and the New York Baroque Dance Co. in the revival of Rameau’s “Les Fetes d’Hebe” on June 28 and 29 in Royce Hall.

The registration fee is $90, including admission to all concerts and festival activities. Single tickets can be purchased for musical events. Information is available at (213) 206-1665.
