Local News in Brief : Trio Sought in Sunland Heist Is Tied to 4 Others
Three gunmen who robbed a Bank of America branch Thursday in Sunland may be responsible for at least four recent bank robberies along the Foothill Freeway in the San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys, authorities said.
After taking an undetermined amount of money from the bank at 8510 Foothill Blvd. about 11:20 a.m., the robbers fled in a stolen Cadillac, which police later found abandoned, Los Angeles Police Lt. Don Beasley said.
Police are investigating the possibility that the three may have robbed the same bank on Jan. 31, Beasley said.
Although Beasley declined to say whether the suspects were linked to other bank robberies, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said they could be part of a team that has held up other banks along the Foothill Freeway.
