Officials at the Los Angeles Zoo claim they have enhanced the zoo’s reputation as the “pig capital of the world” by acquiring four young pot-bellied pigs from Southeast Asia. The porkers, named for their bellies, which sag to the ground, have bodies resembling accordions because their skin forms many folds. The two male and two female pigs now weigh between 25 and 45 pounds, but will eventually weigh 90 pounds each, zoo officials said. The pigs, ranging in age from 8 to 12 weeks, will not be put on exhibit for 30 days.
