Lady’s Secret, Videogenic in Santa Margarita

A field of 10 headed by Lady’s Secret and Videogenic was entered Friday to run in today’s $300,000 Santa Margarita Handicap at Santa Anita.

Lady’s Secret, who will be ridden by Jorge Velasquez and was assigned high weight of 125 pounds for the 1 1/8-mile race, has won both of her starts this year, the El Encino Stakes and the La Canada Stakes.

The 4-year-old daughter of Secretariat captured 10 stakes events in 1985 and was the runnerup to Mom’s Command in the Eclipse Award voting for the outstanding 3-year-old filly.

Videogenic, who will be ridden by Robbie Davis and was assigned 122 pounds, will be makng her West Coast debut. She was entered in the La Canada Stakes on Feb. 9 but was a late scratch.

Videogenic has won five of her last six races, all graded stakes events. Like Lady’s Secret, she has won both of her starts in 1986. Both of Videogenic’s triumphs this year came at Gulfstream Park in Florida.

Videogenic was third in the Eclipse Award voting for the outstanding famale turf horse behind Pebbles and Estrapade.

Lady’s Secret drew the inside post position while Videogenic drew post position No. 4.
