Local favorite Pete Weber did something even his Bowling Hall of Fame father, Dick Weber, couldn’t do in his storied career--win before the home crowd in the St. Louis Open.
The 23-year-old Weber was almost flawless for two games, stopping top-seeded Dennis Jacques, 267-227, in the title game. With 10 relatives, including his father, watching from the stands, Weber rolled 17 strikes in 24 shots, missing the 1-3 pocket only once--on his final shot when the title was wrapped up.
