A not guilty plea was entered on behalf of singer Andy Williams in a drunken-driving case, and a pretrial hearing was scheduled April 24. Williams, 57, famed for such songs as “The Days of Wine and Roses,” “Moon River” and “Theme from Dr. Zhivago,” was not required to appear and was absent during arraignment in Redlands Municipal Court. His lawyer entered the plea. Williams is charged with misdemeanor drunken driving. A trial date was to be set at the April hearing. The singer was stopped for driving erratically in his Rolls-Royce convertible Jan. 20 in Redlands on his way home from the Bob Hope Desert Classic golf tournament in Palm Desert. Tests showed he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.17%, surpassing the legal limit of 0.10%, authorities said, adding that there also was an open can of beer in the car.
