Reagan Upset ABC Put Soviet Reporter on Air After Speech
President Reagan complained to congressional leaders today about the televised forum given a Soviet correspondent after the President’s TV address to the nation on military spending Wednesday night, sources said.
“I don’t know why the hell the media (are) so willing to lend support to the Soviets,” Reagan was quoted as telling a bipartisan leadership gathering.
Reagan was said to be responding to similar criticism by Rep. John P. Murtha (D-Pa.), who said Radio Moscow reporter Vladimir Posner should not have been put on the air by ABC-TV as a respondent to Reagan’s remarks.
