Fellowship Supports 15-Year Research on Health Care Costs

James P. Newhouse, formerly head of the Rand Corp. economics department, has been named senior corporate fellow in health policy, the first chair in domestic research created by Rand to acknowledge outstanding work in research and policy analysis.

The fellowship will provide support for Newhouse’s work, including a 15-year research project on health care costs and insurance. He is on the faculty of the Rand Graduate Institute and is an adjunct professor at the UCLA School of Public Health.

James R. Hosek, former director of Rand’s defense manpower research center, has been named head of its department of economics and statistics.
