Brea : Woman Escapes Serious Injury in Crash, Hit-Run

Word came Saturday morning that Jennifer King, 23, of Placentia had no broken bones, no internal injuries, no concussions.
That, said Brea Police Lt. Jim Winder, was nothing short of a miracle.
Because a few hours earlier, about 2 a.m., King’s car had gone out of control on narrow, winding Carbon Canyon Road, striking a guardrail and throwing her about 75 feet through the air and onto the pavement.
Another driver, Ken House, 32, of Fullerton came to her aid and was crouched over her in the road when another car struck them both head-on, police said. The impact threw House against the guardrail at the side of the road. Then as the car, which never stopped, was driving off, it dragged King about 25 feet along the pavement.
Thick mist prevented the use of a helicopter ambulance, police said, so the two victims were driven to trauma centers at the UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange and Western Medical Center in Santa Ana. “The latest information we have is she has no broken bones, no internal injuries and didn’t even suffer a concussion,” Winder said. “She has some flesh wounds and lacerations to the face, but they weren’t anything as bad as you’d expect.”
Winder said House suffered broken bones and lacerations to his scalp, “but other than that, I understand, he’s going to be OK.”
Investigators asked anyone who may have seen the hit-and-run driver to contact Brea police.
