Spanish language Yellow Pages, test-marketed last year in Los Angeles, will be distributed in Orange County in June and in San Diego County next fall. “It’s a very good venture strategically,” Fernando Rios, production manager for Pacific Bell Directory, said from his San Francisco office. Rios said more than 150,000 of the Spanish-only commercial publications will be delivered in San Diego County in September. “It’s a darn good idea,” said Jose Muniz, deputy director of the Chicano Federation in San Diego. Muniz said between 17% and 22% of San Diego County residents are Spanish-speaking. When Spanish Yellow Pages were tested in three areas of Los Angeles last year, listings sold totaled $2.7 million, Rios said.
