Fullerton : Longtime Secretary to Orange Growers Dies
Edna Amelia Welton, the former secretary of the Placentia Orange Growers Assn. and a longtime resident of Fullerton, died early Sunday of natural causes. She was 95.
Welton, who was born in Bermuda Hundred, Va., on Jan. 3, 1891, moved to Fullerton in 1892 and resided there until her death at Gordon Lane Nursing Home, where she lived the past five years.
Welton graduated from Fullerton High School in 1908 and then worked for the Placentia Orange Growers Assn. until her retirement in 1953.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Gladys Welton Griffin of Fullerton, and two nephews. Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fullerton Baptist Church.
