Wildlife Board OKs Funds for 2 County Projects

Share

Two projects in San Diego County are among those that will benefit from more than $1 million in state funds approved for Southern California last week by the California Wildlife Conservation Board.

The board approved $94,300 to build a fishing platform and gangway at Jennings Lake, which is about eight miles east of El Cajon and is owned by the Helix Water District. The planned 8- by 49-foot floating platform and 90-foot-long ramp will be built on the south shore of the steep-sided lake to accommodate handicapped and elderly fishermen. The lake is open for fishing October through May.

Also receiving funds is a land acquisition project at Agua Hedionda Lagoon, at the southern edge of Carlsbad. The board authorized a $4,000 bond proposal to cover the cost of acquiring 200 acres at the east end of the lagoon.
