Help-wanted advertising declined in January.
The drop in volume of help-wanted classified ads in 51 major newspapers ended a four-month string of increases, the Conference Board said. The private business research group said its help-wanted advertising index (in which the 1967 rate equals 100) declined two points to 143 in January from the previous month. The index remained higher than the 141 for January, 1985.
