Huntington Beach : Police Will Establish Sobriety Checkpoints

Share

City police, working with the California Highway Patrol, are planning to stop drivers at an undisclosed sobriety checkpoint Saturday night.

Police said they plan to stop every third or fifth car on a stretch of road that is described as having a high rate of drunk-driving arrests and accidents.

If drivers exhibit any of the standard signs of drunk driving, they will be pulled off to the side of the road and given field sobriety tests. If they fail, they’ll be taken to jail.

The controversial highway operation was used throughout California during the Christmas season. Laguna Beach police announced plans to set up a similar checkpoint in their city tonight.
