Hoyt Is Making Progress
Padre pitcher LaMarr Hoyt, who entered a rehabilitation center for possible substance abuse one week ago, reportedly is making progress and will be visited today by one of his attorney’s associates.
“I talked to LaMarr today,” Hoyt’s attorney Ron Shapiro said Thursday, “and my associate Lyn Watner will see him. They’ll just catch up on things. I’ll go on and see him next week.”
Hoyt reportedly is staying at the Hazelden Foundation in Center City, Minn., and is expected to be there through March 26. He is having emotional problems, but doctors also have been evaluating him for potential alcohol and drug troubles. Their report has not been released.
