Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, the Indian guru forced from the United States for immigration fraud and from Greece for advocating free love, flew to the Caribbean on Friday in search of a home after being rejected by Britain.

Rajneesh landed in London earlier Friday with six companions but was denied entry and was detained at Heathrow Airport, the Home Office said.

“He has been refused leave to enter the country because his presence would not be conducive to the public good,” a spokesman said.

Two of the guru’s six companions were permitted into the country because they are British citizens, he said, but it was not immediately clear whether they had stayed or rejoined the bhagwan’s party.

The official said he did not know Rajneesh’s destination. But airport sources said he was believed to be heading in a private jet for the West Indies, probably Antigua, with at least four companions.

London was the latest stop for Rajneesh since he left the United States last November under threat of imprisonment for immigration fraud. He returned briefly to India before going to Nepal and then to the Greek island of Crete.
