Carling Bassett was injured in a snowmobile accident near her home in Toronto and has been advised by her doctor to withdraw from Monday night’s preliminary match in the Challenge Series at the Forum and this week’s Virginia Slims tournament at Dallas.

Bassett suffered a neck burn and bruised buttocks, according to Jeanie Buss, president of Forum Championship Tennis, who said that “another highly ranked” player will be selected to face Zina Garrison in the 6 p.m. match. Jimmy Connors is scheduled to play Yannick Noah at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
