Relatives of Crew ‘Thank the World’

Families of the seven crew members killed in the explosion of the space shuttle Challenger have issued a statement to “thank the world” for expressions of sympathy and support.

“The spouses and families of the Challenger flight 51-L crew gratefully acknowledge your expressions of sympathy and support,” said the statement dated March 11. “We thank the world for sharing in our pride of the Challenger crew, and it is with continued pride that we will cherish the memories of their accomplishments.

“From all of you we draw the strength to bid the crew of 51-L our love and joyful wishes for an extended and exciting exploration of that dimension in space that so intrigued them.”
