U.N. Rights Panel Assails Chile

GENEVA —
The 43-member U.N. Commission on Human Rights today unanimously adopted a resolution condemning Chile for killings, kidnapings, torture and other abuses.
Its language was mainly based on a draft resolution presented earlier by the United States, which switched its Chilean policy from quiet diplomacy to public condemnation of the military regime.
