Fullerton : Cal State’s Spring Enrollment a Record

Share

Cal State Fullerton has 23,010 students in classes, the largest spring semester enrollment in its 27-year history, university officials said Friday.

The spring enrollment, as normally happens, is less than that of the fall, which was 23,592. But the spring decrease from the fall was very small compared with previous years. The current spring semester enrollment is 456 higher than spring of 1985 and 129 above the previous record-breaking spring semester in 1982.

Mildred Scott, acting dean of admissions and records, credited the spring 1986 increase to computers that aided student enrollment and class selection.

The 1986 spring semester analysis shows that women account for 54% of the total enrollment.

By class level, seniors were the most numerous, with 7,800. The junior class had 5,698; post-baccalaureate and graduate students, 4,069; sophomores, 2,981, and freshmen, 2,462. The average student, according to the semester enrollment analysis, took 10.5 units of course work, which is the same average as a year ago.
