The Koll Co. will break ground on more than 700,000 square feet of projects in San Diego within the next l8 months, according to DeAnn Reynolds, marketing manager for Koll’s southern division.

Major new projects include Koll Center San Diego, a $200-million mixed-use project in downtown San Diego, and 400,000 square feet of research and development, office and multitenant space at the company’s Carlsbad Research Center.

Koll Center, a joint venture by Koll and Shapell Housing, Inc./Goldrich Kest & Associates, will ultimately include two 300,000-square-foot office towers, a 335-room hotel as well as stores, restaurants, an outdoor health club and parking for 1,300 cars.

Carlsbad Research Center is in the third year of its 10-year development schedule. The new projects will include a three-story, 60,000-square-foot office building and a 58,000-square-foot, five-building multitenant complex.
