Police Arrest 11, Seize 15 Ounces of Cocaine

Eleven people were arrested and 15 ounces of cocaine, valued at $45,000, were seized in weekend raids at homes in San Fernando and Burbank, police said Monday.

Narcotics detectives exercised search warrants late Friday, arresting five people at a house in the 900 block of Griswold Avenue in San Fernando. Two handguns and $557 in cash, believed to be drug profits, were seized, along with one ounce of cocaine, Burbank police Sgt. Don Goldberg said.

Gilbert Loya, 29, his wife, Diane Loya, also 29, Emmy M. Robles, 20, Octavio G. Juarez, 22, and Elizabeth Sandoval, 28, were arrested on suspicion of possessing the drug, Goldberg said.

While agents were in the house, Edilberto Gomez, 28, a Colombian national, arrived and was arrested for transporting cocaine, Goldberg said. Gomez was carrying one ounce of cocaine and $700 in cash, he said.

Detectives later went to Gomez’s residence, in the 400 block of Farley Court in Burbank, and arrested five more Colombian nationals and seized 13 ounces of cocaine, Goldberg said.

Heriberto Paredes, 25, his wife, Miriam M. Paredes, 33, Jose R. Gomez, 30, Asdrubal Gomez, 32, and Iraer Gomez, 25, were arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine, Goldberg said.

He said bail for the suspects ranged from $2,500 to $50,000. Heriberto Paredes, Jose Gomez, Edilberto Gomez, Asdrubal Gomez and Iraer Gomez were being held Monday evening in Burbank City Jail, police said.
