The San Jose Bees of the California League Monday signed former Dodger Derrel Thomas to play center field.

The Bees did not disclose what they will pay the 35-year-old Thomas, but team spokesman Mark Wilson said the salary was “consistent with other minor league contracts.”

Thomas played with the Dodgers from 1979 to 1983. He spent most of last year with the Philadelphia Phillies, where he hit .207 in 63 games.

Other recent signings by the Bees include Mike Norris and Ken Reitz, and Wilson said the club is 95% sure it will sign former Dodger pitcher Steve Howe in the next few days.
