Anaheim : School Administrators to Talk of AIDS Impact

The impact of acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) on public schools will be among the discussion items this weekend during a convention of the Assn. of California School Administrators.

The statewide meeting opens Friday at the Anaheim Convention Center and continues through Monday. About 2,000 school superintendents, principals, school board members and other officials are scheduled to attend the conference.

The session on AIDS will be among the opening events at 1:30 p.m. Friday, and attendance is limited to convention delegates who sign up for this special mini-conference. Speakers on the impact of AIDS on schools will include Persida Drakulich, director of school health programs for the state Department of Education, and Dr. Tom Prendergast, epidemiologist with the Orange County Health Care Agency.

State Supt. of Public Instruction Bill Honig will address the convention Sunday at 4 p.m., and Gov. George Deukmejian will give the closing address at 11 a.m. Monday.
