Hacienda Heights : School to Get Computers

Share

Shadybend Elementary School has received three grants totaling almost $19,000 from the state Department of Education to purchase computers and software for each classroom in the school as well as other equipment for programs that stress the development of critical thinking in the natural and social sciences.

Principal Amy Baumann said the school submitted a proposal for the computer grant and two groups of teachers turned in proposals for grants for teachers to develop innovative educational programs.

One teacher group received funds for additional computers to encourage problem-solving and critical thinking in such areas as biology, chemistry and history, and the other got funds to purchase astronomy kits, weather kits, binoculars and other materials for the study of astronomy.
