Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, trying to mediate the rift between King Hussein and the Palestine Liberation Organization, met in Cairo with the Jordanian monarch but apparently failed to make progress. After more than four hours of talks, Hussein said that “we have reached a dead end, so to speak, for the time being.”
