Defending Dornan’s ‘Little Jew’ Remark

The spate of castigating letters regarding Rep. Dornan’s reaction to Soviet commentator Vladimir Posner’s appearance on ABC television, reinforces my strong belief that the populace at large avidly searches for comments that can be misinterpreted.
One writer, Ben Irwin, questioned if a Catholic or Baptist in Posner’s position would have been so identified. In view of the Soviet position on churches and religion, I believe it would have been equally applicable to the “disloyal, betraying little Jew.”
After all, for an American-born Jew to embrace communism and witness the harassment of Jewish residents of the Soviet Republic have suffered, he is disloyal and betraying!
