Workers who struck three General Electric Co. plants last month returned to work Friday, ending a walkout that stalled production on $1 billion in military contracts.

GE spokesman William Kennedy said about 90% of the 7,400 striking union members were asked to return to plants in Lynn, Medford and Everett after they approved a new contract. The full work force is expected to be re-employed within two weeks, he said.
