United States International University pulled ahead for good with 12:47 left to beat Fresno State, 82-76, in the second round of the losers’ bracket in the Women’s National Invitation Basketball Tournament on Friday.

Toya DeCree scored 19 points to lead USIU.

Fresno State led, 56-55, with 12:55 remaining, but the Bulldogs fell behind because of a combination of poor rebounding and shooting.

The Gulls (24-7) will play West Texas State (25-5) for the consolation trophy at 4 p.m. Friday. The Bulldogs (21-8) will play Tennessee Tech (21-10), a 78-65 second-round loser to West Texas State, at 2 p.m. Friday for seventh place.
