One of the last things Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos did as they dashed from a two-bedroom duplex on Hickam Air Force Base on their way to live in a $1.5-million beachfront house was to sign the guest book.

“With our deep appreciation!” is the final entry, written Monday in the same readable handwriting as “Imelda L. Marcos.”

Her entry is followed by a large heavy black scrawl which appears to be the signature of the deposed Philippines president.

The message and signatures are not unusual in the book, but the dates shown, again in Imelda Marcos’ handwriting, will be a part of history: Feb. 26, 1986, to March 24, 1986, the first month of a new regime in the Philippines.
