WASHINGTON — An American Black Muslim leader, Louis Farrakhan, was believed to be in Libya Tuesday, in defiance of a U.S. government prohibition against travel to the North African country, as U.S. and Libyan forces clashed in the Gulf of Sidra.
Three Chicago reporters accompanied the controversial Black Muslim leader on his trip to Libya--Sandra Crockett of the Chicago Defender, Nathaniel Clay of the Chicago Metro News and Wali D. Muhammad, a writer for a newspaper published by the Black Muslim movement. Crockett’s and Clay’s offices confirmed that the reporters had traveled with Farrakhan.
